Postal HIV testing
If you live in West Berkshire you can order a free HIV postal test kit.
The test requires you to take a small sample of blood and, using the freepost envelope, post it to our lab. Your result will be given by text or phone call so please ensure you give us the correct phone number.
To order a test kit, please use the form below:
You will be sent an e-mail confirming your order. If you do not receive this, please also check your spam folder.
If you have had any unprotected sex in the last 12 weeks, the window period, you will need to re-test after this time. The window period is the time between potential exposure to HIV and the point the test will give an accurate result.
Please note, this is only currently available to people over 18 that are living within the boundaries of West Berkshire Council.
When you order a test kit from us we will confirm your order via email. We use some information from your order for statistical purposes such as the first part of your postcode, your age and your test result. If you choose to fill in the optional information such as gender and sexual preference we will use this data in the same way. The anonymised information is used to identify gaps in the service and is also sent to West Berkshire council who fund this project.
Your phone number, along with a unique reference that identifies who you are, is kept until your test result is received, after which it is deleted. Any other information is deleted once your test has been posted to you.
When you order a test from us you are consenting to us contacting you via text or phone, that you are happy for us to send a confirmatory e-mail of your order, and that you are aware that some of your information will be anonymised for statistical purposes.
